Athens to Welcome New Year with Silent Fireworks, Drone Show, Time Machine

The City of Athens will welcome the New Year 2025 with an innovative music and theatre spectacle which will be entirely accessible, starting 10 pm on Tuesday, December 31.
The free admission event, celebrating the city’s heritage, will shoot silent fireworks to prevent firework anxiety in pets, and will be livetsreamed on the municipality’s official Facebook and YouTube accounts with simultaneous translation in the Greek sign language.
A performance by the Athens Philarmonic Orchestra will kick-start the evening.
The main stage show, set at Syntagma Square and titled “Roof of Time,” will be a time-machine themed singing and acting multi-artist performance revolving around the history of the city from 1945 to today.

Night sky spectacle with drones and pet-friendly, silent fireworks
For the first time, the Greek capital will celebrate the arrival of the new year with the use of silent fireworks.
Those are, in fact, quieter fireworks, which emit a lower level of noise in comparison to standard fireworks, causing minimum disturbance to the surroundings. This is believed to protect pets from the biggest part of firework anxiety, as well as people with noise sensitivity.
The night sky spectacle will be complemented, also for the first time, by a drone show offered by DRNS.gr.

Athens’ journey through time gets center stage
The main event of the Athens New Year’s Eve celebrations will be the on-stage entertainment show at Syntagma Square, which will take participants on a fascinating journey through time.
Written by musician Foivos Delivorias and directed by Angelos Triantafyllou, the “Roof of Time” will revive the ambience of different eras in the Greek capital from 1945 to 2025, in a show specially dedicated to the timelessly vibrant city of Athens.
Sat in his impressive “time machine” vehicle – a special stage set created by Angelos Mentis – and dressed in alternating period costumes styled by Alexandra Ftouli, Delivorias will be the show’s “pilot”/singer/presenter, traveling through the eras and searching for the year 2025.

In his journey, he will meet performers Natasa Bofiliou, Martha Frintzila and Thanasis Alevras, who will each be changing into the shoes of divas and personalities of every era in the count down to 2025.
Joining them on stage will be dancers, soloists, and emerging singing performers.
The “Roof of Time” performance will be succeded by a DJ set which will dance guests into the new year.
