Former Prince of Greece Nikolaos, now known as Nikolaos De Grèce, has officially confirmed the details of his upcoming wedding to Chrysi Vardinogianni.

The announcement, made on the official website of the former Greek royal family, reveals that the couple will marry in a private Greek Orthodox ceremony on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 6:00 pm. The wedding will take place at the Holy Church of Saint Nicholas Ragavas in Athens, with a small gathering of close family and friends in attendance.

“The Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony of HRH Prince Nikolaos, now known as Nikolaos De Grèce, and Ms. Chrysi Vardinogianni will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 6:00 pm at the Holy Church of Saint Nicholas Ragavas in Athens in a private ceremony amongst close family and friends,” the official statement reads.

This announcement follows significant media attention surrounding the couple, as Nikolaos proposed just nine months after his divorce from Tatiana Blatnik, with initial reports suggesting a private wedding. The official confirmation now solidifies their plans for the ceremony.

Who is Chrysi Vardinogianni?

Chrysi Vardinogianni, daughter of influential Greek shipowner Giorgos Vardinogiannis, is part of one of Greece’s most prominent and wealthiest families.

She has studied graphic design, and one of her professional pursuits was working at the advertising company Karamella, which is owned by her mother. She also chose to combine her career with her great passion for music, and since 2009, she has been leading the record label Spicy.

In 2010, Chrysi met celebrated Greek singer Nino (Stefanos Xypolitas), and the couple married in 2012. They expanded their family with the birth of a son, Giorgos, in 2013, followed by a daughter, Karen, in 2014. However, after five years of marriage, they amicably divorced in 2017.

After her separation, Chrysi entered into a relationship with renowned Greek actor Konstantinos Markoulakis in 2018. The pair were together for five years before parting ways in December 2023.

Afterward, Chrysi began a new chapter in her life, which led to her relationship with former Prince of Greece, Nikolaos. The couple has kept their relationship relatively private, although they were spotted together on several occasions, including at a memorial service for Nikolaos’ father, the late King Constantine, at the Tatoi former royal estate.

The couple’s wedding will be a private affair, following a longstanding tradition of keeping such ceremonies intimate within the former Greek royal circle. This will be the second marriage for Nikolaos, who divorced Tatiana Blatnik in 2024 after 13 years of marriage. The pair had no children and remained amicable following their divorce.

Divorce between Ex-Prince Nikolaos and Tatiana Blatnik

Nikolaos, the second son of Anne-Marie and the late former king Constantine, divorced Tatiana Blatnik in 2024 after 13 years of marriage. Their wedding, held in August 2010 at the Cathedral of Ayios Nikolaos on the island of Spetses, was a grand royal event.

The former couple, who did not have children, later settled in Athens and pursued independent careers. Nikolaos focused on photography, while Tatiana became involved in social impact work.

“We wish to inform you of a significant and heartfelt decision made by TRH Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana. After 14 years of marriage, they have chosen to amicably dissolve their union,” the former Greek royal family’s office said in a statement on April 19.

“This decision was reached with great care and mutual respect, reflecting the depth of their appreciation for one another and the moments they have shared. Their future interactions will continue to be guided by these same principles of respect and understanding, as they transition into a relationship rooted in a strong friendship. They will continue to live and build their lives in Greece, a place they both call home,” it continued. “The Family will always support them.”

The last public appearance of Nikolaos and Tatiana as a couple was at a memorial service for former king Constantine in February 2024, held at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. The service was attended by members of the former Greek and British royal families, including Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, and Princess Beatrice.

Members of former royal family granted Greek citizenship and adopt new surname, ‘De Grece’

Recently, Greece has granted citizenship to ten members of the former royal family after the entire family had been stripped of it thirty years ago. Royalty in Greece was abolished fifty one years ago in the 1974 referendum that followed the restoration of democracy in Greece after seven years of a military dictatorship.

Specifically, the five children of Constantine II and former queen Anne-Marie—Pavlos, Nikolaos, Philippos, Alexia, and Theodora—as well as five of the late king’s grandchildren acquired Greek citizenship. They adopted a new surname, De Grece, French for “of Greece.”
